So I recently decided that I get the "Worst Blogger EVER" Award. This is mostly due to the fact that I love looking at everyone else blogs and see cute babies in my spare time. BUT I need to redirect my attention to this thing. I know you all have REALLY been missing your Daily Spill by Spalli! And since it is named the Daily Spill you would think that I would post daily but no.
To catch you up on what you have missed since I have last blogged (October 2009...very bad), I have complied a couple of bullet points.
+ Goblin has finally been laid to rest. RIP Gobs
+ I made my first trip to the Fort Worth Zoo after being in Dallas for almost 2 years now. Spring was in the air that day or at least it was for the Chimps that were getting alittle frisky for child eyes.
+ I was promoted!!! Go Alli!!
+ I got a new car!! Go Alli!!
+ I'm officially a grown up with way too many bills. I'm proud of myself and at the same time wish I was Ava's age when I see the automatic payments come out of my account
+ Deshka got her first all over haircut :) For those of you that have seen my puppy bag, she looks like her "look alike" on the bag now
+ Greg and I decided to live amoung our delightful neighbors ONE MORE YEAR...aka...one more year of cable stealing, paint ball shooting, jinco wearing, loud college party funness!! BUT free gym membership!!! (yes!)
+ I was farted on in Half Price Books by a man in the Nature section......
+ I went there, saw that, and enjoyed it all...
I promise I will get better at this. Till next time.....
This has been your 5 and a half month worth of spillage!!
Cheers,
Spalli

The October Re-cap
I must apologize for my tardy post. October was, to say the least, BUSY!
When I last left you I had a car that sounded strangely enough like a remote control car, I locked Deshka in the closet and I began wondering what those in my work circle did all day....
Since then, I'm sad to say I have lost some fellow coworkers to this less than comfortable economy we have going on these days. My heart really reaches out to these people. It made me realize something about the corporate world though. It is scrappy!! I would like to think that working hard and doing your job well and usually more efficiently than others will get you far but in this case in particular it didn't. It makes me realize that no job is a safety net BUT more than anything it reminds me that you cannot focus on what is going to happen next month or even tomorrow. That will make you a nervous, crazy person! Don't do it! Live in the present and forget about worrying and remember your bosses are like dogs, they smell your fear. Or is that bees?
October also brought a bunch of happy moments. I got to spend time with my precious niece Ava and my always lovely sister a couple of times. Even though we are in the same city it is hard to get to see each other so anytime I can skip over to Carrollton I will, the trip is very worth it. Every time I see Ava she grows so much!! I just love that little girl. I will spoil her, just wait! Ava, remember I will always have candy ;)
*** Now is the time in the blog where I would share pictures of my time spent with Ava but I am apparently an intermediate level blogger. Kristen....HELP!***
Wait a second!!

I DID IT!!
This is Ava checking out my necklace. We have a girly girl on our hands! Yesssss!
I also got to experience I new part of the world this month. Toronto, Canada!! It was bootyful and I could not stop talking about the leaves there. I think I have more pictures of leaves than anything else. When I first started at Teknion I put together a student design competition to redesign a space in the Dallas showroom. The winner was a student at UNT in Denton, Dallas' neighbor to the north, and he received a two day trip to Toronto to meet the designers of Teknion and experience the city. After my boss could not attend because of a busy schedule, I got to go in his place (rightfully so if you ask me ;). We stayed in the swankiest hotel in downtown Toronto, met the design team, chit chatted with the president of Teknion, and went to some great restaurants. The second day was a free day so Stephen, the winner, and I got to go to the Art Gallery of Ontario and walk around on an architectural tour of Toronto. The AGO was amazing! It was designed by Frank Gehry and had art inside from Picasso and Henry Moore to name a few. Here are some pictures from in the gallery. Unfortunately I was asked to not to take pictures of the art, sorry folks!
Stair case in the AGO
Interior of AGO
Toronto Skyline....pretty trees :)
Random Cool Architecture
Looking up into the stairwell. This was an art piece itself!
GO TEKNION! Got our benches in the AGO!
A set of Mies Van der Rohe buildings. One of the most brilliant architects of all time!
Disclaimer: Alli is a chair nerd
This is me sitting in a REAL Barcelona Chair staring at a Barcelona chair. None of the knock off stuff here!
After my two days in Toronto, I was off to Chicago, home of DA Bears! This was definitely business oriented so I didn't get any pictures while I was there. Sad fact... From what I saw though, I want to go back! Actually, the only part of the city I saw was my hotel...the restaurant down the street from my hotel, and the bar next to the restaurant, down the street from my hotel. :) We were smack in the middle of downtown so that was fun. Hold the phone! I did get to eat at Harry Carey's restaurant for lunch when I first got there. I kept doing my impersonations and sadly no one at the table got them. "If the moon was mad of cheese....would ya eat it??" No one.....crickets....lovely!
Then it was back home, and boy was I ready to be home. I am definitely not what you would call the seasoned traveler. The day after I got back was Halloween and I got to see family, or should I say, Rachel Zoe got to see the family. hehe I was Rachel Zoe during the day, thanks to Kristen's brilliant suggestion. Later that night Greg and I took it easy and went and saw Paranormal Activity (scary!). We didn't want to do anything big for Halloween because of all of the crazies on the road so we decided a movie was appropriate after such a busy week. We did go like this though....
Weirdos
Here are some other pictures from Halloween at GJ's earlier that day...
Rachel Zoe from Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project was there!
So was Rachel's grandma, who looked alot like GJ!
And our little Love Bug :)
So now I say goodbye to October. I loved ya and I hated ya! So long....
Till next time this has been your October re-cap of the Daily Spill with Spalli
Keep it real or let it spill

The Magic Wand
I often talk about my imaginary magic wand that many people think I actually own. My magic wand has been known to amazingly and magically make whole projects come to life, make furniture appear in other cities in a days notice, and accomplish the work of 5 people....all very amazingly. It can even make me work at lighting fast speeds so I have time to tend to my blog during business hours. Lately, I have been getting a disclaimer before tasks are asked of me, "I can't figure this out and I'm sure you will be much faster at it than me...." To them I say, maybe you should buy a magic wand too, mine is tired.
Facts my not be entirely true and by that I mean, I really do not own a magical task completing wand. I'm merely a hard worker and if I look busy it is because I am. Sometimes spending too much time in a home office will lead to a lack of work ethic. I'd like to be a fly on the wall when my magical abilities are requested to see how much work is really going on.
Magical wands are pricey these days, with the economy and all, and I just can't afford to run my juice out "on silly games", as Mary Poppins would say.

How I know I'm not ready for kids....
Wow, two blogs in one day!
I remembered a funny conversation I had this weekend and had to share.
I was talking to an old high school friend this weekend and we got on the subject on how everyone seems to be popping out kids these days. Since when did having babies become a cool, fadish thing to do. I totally understand bring a child into this world when you are ready and have been with someone for a long time but some instances that I am hearing are, lets just be frank here, ridiculous. I'm sorry, but poop and spending all my money on diapers does not sound like a fade I want to participate in, nor does it fall into my Dallas Diva lifestyle. ;) I often talk about my "guitar hero" theory and this definitely falls under that category. So to conclude this post, the reason I know I am not ready for kids is because last week I locked Deshka in the closet all day while I was at work. Until I get this doggy mommy thing under control I will just stick to babysitting for those with children.
And I promise not to lock them in the closet.

Lesson Learned: Goblin Can't Swim
Those who know me well, know that I am one who is always getting caught in some sort of mess. How do I manage to do this, I have no idea? I have always thought of it as being my way of learning life's little lessons....the hard way of course and pulling them off with grace (most of the time).
So with that said......
Lesson # 546
"Goblin Can't Swim"
This past Thursday I was driving to Kristen and Mikey's house to get some Ava giggles and stay the night before heading to Austin for my annual ACL adventures. I had finally told myself that even though my weekend ACL plans were not perfectly planned out that I would still have fun and I needed to take a chill pill and just go have fun! Something in my gut had been telling me something was wrong the whole day but I put that aside and got in Goblin with Deshka and all of my packed bags and headed to the Seamans' house. This would be a good time to explain who exactly Goblin is. Goblin, formerly the Red Goblin, named by my mechanic in San Antonio, is my lovely (in the inside), stubborn, and most of the time reliable car. :) She (and yes I talk about her as if she is a person) has been with me longer than most of my cars and I have grown to love her and will actually get very defensive when people make fun of her. Needless to say, Goblin and I are always getting into trouble. If you have been around us recently you can remember we just got a new booty put on after a minor fender bender, went to great lengths to pass inspection and at the end got a sympathy passing since our blinker is still hanging off the car, and have recently developed a hiccup while changing gears. So back to the story....
I was driving to Carrolton when all of the sudden I see this huge black cloud, which I am now driving straight into. I'm talking Independence Day, big black cloud!! So of course it starts raining and wind starts wiping around like there is a tornado or something so I take it easy driving on the access road until it lightens up. Instead of letting up, it gets worse, so I decided it would be a good idea to pull over. Now since I was going to ACL, I had tons of snacks packed so I grabbed some cheesy crackers and waited out the rain. Once it was safe enough to drive again, I jumped back on to the access road and was on my way. Well, once I was back on the road it started going in a different direction than the highway so I decided I want to get on the highway instead. I made my way back to the highway and was approaching the turn around under the overpass to get myself on the highway when I hit 2 feet of water!!! My first instinct was to stop putting my foot of the gas but once my car started getting sucked down further in the water I slammed on the gas and was able to get out. Goblin was sputtering and wouldn't brake right away so I knew I had done it this time. Does everyone remember Rescue 911?? All I could think of was, I was going to be the person on Rescue 911 that is sitting on top of their car with their little white dog, eating Cheez Its while water is rushing all around them.
Luckily, I was able to get Gobs to a Taco Bell where she spent the night to dry off. I was hoping cars were similar to cell phones that have been dropped in water in that, if you let me dry they might just work again.....
Hooray, Gobs is still alive!!! But now sounds a bit like a remote control car when she reaches 40 mph. I think this will subtract some months off of her life but for now I'm glad to still have her around and, not to mention, a way to get to work. No Dart for me, thank you!
So learn from my lesson, when it is raining cats and dogs stay away from underpasses!!!
Monica, I hope you enjoyed the ACL tickets!! I still don't want to hear any stories for about a month and if a flu breakout happens among those at acl, I will be the first to say "I'm glad I wasn't there"!
On a brighter note, I got to spend most of the weekend with my sis, bro in law, and precious niece!! Thank you Kristen, Mikey, Ava and Macy for coming to my rescue this weekend!! Love you!
Till next time, this has been your daily spill by spalli :)

I have always wanted to start a blog since I always enjoy looking at friends and family members' blogs so what better time then the first day of being a quarter of a century old. A bit wiser today than yesterday, no? I'm going to try my best to post as much as possible with my spalli adventures, mishaps, and successes. Oh and for those who do not yet know of "spalli"....that's me, the spilling, mess making machine! That's right, no unwatched drink on the floor is safe when I'm around! I hope you enjoy my blog as much as I am going to enjoy sharing my thoughts and observations.
