When I last left you I had a car that sounded strangely enough like a remote control car, I locked Deshka in the closet and I began wondering what those in my work circle did all day....
Since then, I'm sad to say I have lost some fellow coworkers to this less than comfortable economy we have going on these days. My heart really reaches out to these people. It made me realize something about the corporate world though. It is scrappy!! I would like to think that working hard and doing your job well and usually more efficiently than others will get you far but in this case in particular it didn't. It makes me realize that no job is a safety net BUT more than anything it reminds me that you cannot focus on what is going to happen next month or even tomorrow. That will make you a nervous, crazy person! Don't do it! Live in the present and forget about worrying and remember your bosses are like dogs, they smell your fear. Or is that bees?
October also brought a bunch of happy moments. I got to spend time with my precious niece Ava and my always lovely sister a couple of times. Even though we are in the same city it is hard to get to see each other so anytime I can skip over to Carrollton I will, the trip is very worth it. Every time I see Ava she grows so much!! I just love that little girl. I will spoil her, just wait! Ava, remember I will always have candy ;)
*** Now is the time in the blog where I would share pictures of my time spent with Ava but I am apparently an intermediate level blogger. Kristen....HELP!***
Wait a second!!
I DID IT!!
This is Ava checking out my necklace. We have a girly girl on our hands! Yesssss!
I also got to experience I new part of the world this month. Toronto, Canada!! It was bootyful and I could not stop talking about the leaves there. I think I have more pictures of leaves than anything else. When I first started at Teknion I put together a student design competition to redesign a space in the Dallas showroom. The winner was a student at UNT in Denton, Dallas' neighbor to the north, and he received a two day trip to Toronto to meet the designers of Teknion and experience the city. After my boss could not attend because of a busy schedule, I got to go in his place (rightfully so if you ask me ;). We stayed in the swankiest hotel in downtown Toronto, met the design team, chit chatted with the president of Teknion, and went to some great restaurants. The second day was a free day so Stephen, the winner, and I got to go to the Art Gallery of Ontario and walk around on an architectural tour of Toronto. The AGO was amazing! It was designed by Frank Gehry and had art inside from Picasso and Henry Moore to name a few. Here are some pictures from in the gallery. Unfortunately I was asked to not to take pictures of the art, sorry folks!

GO TEKNION! Got our benches in the AGO!
A set of Mies Van der Rohe buildings. One of the most brilliant architects of all time!

This is me sitting in a REAL Barcelona Chair staring at a Barcelona chair. None of the knock off stuff here!
After my two days in Toronto, I was off to Chicago, home of DA Bears! This was definitely business oriented so I didn't get any pictures while I was there. Sad fact... From what I saw though, I want to go back! Actually, the only part of the city I saw was my hotel...the restaurant down the street from my hotel, and the bar next to the restaurant, down the street from my hotel. :) We were smack in the middle of downtown so that was fun. Hold the phone! I did get to eat at Harry Carey's restaurant for lunch when I first got there. I kept doing my impersonations and sadly no one at the table got them. "If the moon was mad of cheese....would ya eat it??" No one.....crickets....lovely!
Then it was back home, and boy was I ready to be home. I am definitely not what you would call the seasoned traveler. The day after I got back was Halloween and I got to see family, or should I say, Rachel Zoe got to see the family. hehe I was Rachel Zoe during the day, thanks to Kristen's brilliant suggestion. Later that night Greg and I took it easy and went and saw Paranormal Activity (scary!). We didn't want to do anything big for Halloween because of all of the crazies on the road so we decided a movie was appropriate after such a busy week. We did go like this though....
Weirdos
Here are some other pictures from Halloween at GJ's earlier that day...
Rachel Zoe from Bravo's The Rachel Zoe Project was there!
So was Rachel's grandma, who looked alot like GJ!
And our little Love Bug :)
So now I say goodbye to October. I loved ya and I hated ya! So long....
